The Repair Shop Assistant provides operational and administrative support to the workshop team by assisting with vehicle repairs, coordinating with suppliers, managing parts inventory, and ensuring the workshop remains organised and efficient. Key Responsibilities
Workshop Support
- Assist technicians and workshop staff with major and minor vehicle repairs.
- Support daily workshop operations to ensure efficient workflow.
- Prepare vehicles and work areas for repair and maintenance activities.
- Ensure tools and equipment are available and properly stored.
Supplier and Repair Coordination
- Follow up with outsourced suppliers regarding repair progress.
- Monitor turnaround times for external repair work.
- Ensure outsourced repairs are completed within agreed timelines.
- Communicate supplier updates to workshop management.
Parts and Inventory Management
- Order vehicle parts required for repairs and maintenance.
- Monitor stock levels of frequently used parts.
- Ensure parts are available before scheduled repair work begins.
- Assist with inventory control and stock record management.
- Report shortages and assist in sourcing required components.
Health, Safety and Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
- Assist in keeping tools, equipment, and workstations neat and secure.
- Promote safe work practices within the workshop.
Communication and Coordination
- Communicate with various departments regarding vehicle repair status.
- Provide updates on vehicles currently undergoing repairs.
- Assist with coordinating repair schedules and workshop activities.
- Support effective information flow between workshop staff and management.
Administrative Support
- Assist with workshop administration and record keeping.
- Maintain repair documentation and job records.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric).
Experience
- Previous workshop or automotive industry experience will be advantageous.
- Experience in vehicle repairs, parts management, or workshop administration is beneficial but not essential.
