Job Purpose
The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining used vehicles to ensure they meet safety, quality, and performance standards before being sold or delivered to customers. The role requires advanced technical expertise, fault-finding abilities, and hands-on experience with a wide range of automotive systems.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Inspection
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of used vehicles.
- Assess the condition of:
- Engines
- Transmissions
- Suspension systems
- Braking systems
- Electrical systems
- Steering components
- Identify existing and potential mechanical defects.
- Evaluate overall vehicle roadworthiness and safety.
Diagnostics and Fault Finding
- Perform advanced diagnostic procedures using specialised tools and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues.
- Interpret diagnostic test results.
- Identify root causes of vehicle malfunctions.
- Recommend appropriate repair solutions.
Vehicle Repairs and Maintenance
- Perform repairs on vehicles according to manufacturer standards.
- Repair and maintain:
- Engine systems

- Brake systems

- Electrical and electronic systems
- Conduct preventative maintenance and servicing.
- Ensure repairs are completed efficiently and accurately.
Parts and Component Replacement
- Identify defective or worn components.
- Source suitable replacement parts.
- Verify compatibility and quality of replacement parts.
- Install components according to manufacturer specifications.
- Ensure proper functionality after installation.
Test Drives and Vehicle Evaluation
- Conduct test drives before and after repairs.
- Evaluate vehicle performance and handling.
- Identify unusual noises, vibrations, or operational concerns.
- Verify the effectiveness of repairs and maintenance work.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure repaired vehicles meet company quality standards.
- Conduct final quality inspections after repairs.
- Verify vehicle safety and compliance before release.
- Identify any outstanding issues requiring attention.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Vehicle inspections

Communication and Customer Support
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly.
- Provide updates regarding repair progress and estimated completion times.
- Explain technical issues and repair work where required.
- Assist with technical queries from relevant stakeholders.
Team Collaboration

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Qualified Motor Mechanic with a Red Seal Trade Test Certificate.
Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in:
- Vehicle diagnostics
- Mechanical repairs
- Fault finding
- Automotive maintenance
Licensing
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
