Job Description
The People Advisor serves as a critical link between People & Culture Operations and Business Partnering. The role focuses on ensuring that HR processes, people data, policies, and frameworks are applied consistently across the business.
The successful candidate will support managers with workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, compliance, people analytics, culture initiatives, and HR process improvement while helping create a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. People & Culture Business Partnering
- Act as a bridge between operational and strategic HR functions.
- Support managers in implementing HR policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance on:
- Performance management
- Employee relations
- Employee engagement
- Workforce matters
- Escalate complex employee issues to relevant HR Business Partners.
- Use workforce data to identify trends and recommend solutions.
2. Performance, Development & Workforce Planning
- Support implementation of performance management frameworks.
- Monitor performance review completion rates.
- Analyse employee feedback and performance trends.
- Collaborate with Learning and Development teams.
- Support:
- Succession planning
- Workforce planning
- Talent mobility initiatives
- Maintain accurate workforce planning information.
Workforce Analytics
Analyse and report on:
- Employee turnover
- Absenteeism
- Employee tenure
- Internal promotions and transfers
- Talent pipeline readiness
3. Change, Culture & Transformation
- Support organisational change initiatives.
- Assist with culture and transformation projects.
- Help implement communication and engagement plans.
- Promote organisational values and desired behaviours.
- Gather employee feedback through:
- Surveys
- Forums
- Team engagements
- Provide insights to support organisational development decisions.
4. Employee Relations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- BCEA
- LRA
- POPIA
- Internal HR policies
Employee Relations Support
- Assist in resolving employee concerns.
- Support disciplinary and conduct processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Ensure fair and compliant employee relations practices.
5. People Data, Analytics & HR Processes
HR Administration
- Coordinate employee lifecycle processes.
- Process employee movements and updates.
- Support compliance submissions and reporting.
Data Management
- Validate HR system data.
- Maintain workforce dashboards and reports.
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Analytics and Reporting
- Produce workforce reports and insights.
- Identify workforce trends and risks.
- Support data-driven HR decision-making.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for automation.
- Improve reporting processes.
- Streamline data collection and analysis methods.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12.
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Human Resources Management
- Industrial Psychology
- Related field
(Candidates actively completing their qualification may also be considered.)
Essential Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in:
- HR Advisory
- HR Coordination
- HR Generalist roles
- Experience within a large multi-site organisation such as:
- Retail
- Healthcare
- Logistics
- Proven exposure to the full employee lifecycle.
Knowledge Requirements
Sound understanding of:
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
- Labour Relations Act (LRA)
- Employment Equity (EE)
- Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE)
