Job Description
The General Worker is responsible for performing a variety of general operational tasks within the retail branch. The role supports the day-to-day running of the store through stock handling, housekeeping, cleaning, customer assistance, and maintaining a safe and organized working environment. The position requires minimal training and a willingness to undertake physically demanding work.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping and Cleaning
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the premises.
- Perform routine cleaning duties.
- Ensure all work areas are neat, organized, and safe.
Stock Handling
- Load and offload stock efficiently and safely.
- Assist with stock control activities.
- Help customers and suppliers with the movement of stock according to company policies and procedures.
Customer Service
- Assist customers in a professional and friendly manner.
- Support customer service activities within the branch.
- Contribute to a positive customer experience.
Operational Support
- Carry out ad hoc duties as assigned by management.
- Support the smooth operation of the retail branch.
- Continuously contribute to improving the effectiveness of the role and branch operations.
Requirements
Minimum Qualification
- Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4.
Experience and Competencies
- Ability to load and offload stock.
- Ability to perform hard manual labour.
- Knowledge of basic stock control practices.
