    Tender Overview

    Tokologo Local Municipality invites qualified Registered Occupational Health Medical Practitioners to submit bids for the provision of medical surveillance services for municipal employees over a period of three years. The successful service provider will conduct occupational health assessments, monitor employee health, and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation.

    Tender Objective

    The objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified Occupational Health Medical Practitioner to:

    • Conduct occupational medical surveillance for municipal employees.
    • Promote employee health, safety, and wellbeing.
    • Prevent occupational diseases and work-related injuries.
    • Ensure compliance with occupational health legislation.
    • Provide professional medical advice and recommendations to the municipality.

    Scope of Work

    The appointed service provider will be responsible for:

    Medical Surveillance Services

    • Conduct occupational health assessments for all municipal employees.
    • Perform annual medical examinations and health surveillance.
    • Review employee medical records and occupational health questionnaires.
    • Conduct physiological and clinical assessments.
    • Provide occupational health consultations.

    Medical Testing

    The practitioner must conduct and interpret relevant occupational health tests, including:

    • Audiometry (hearing tests)
    • Spirometry (lung function tests)
    • Vision screening
    • General medical examinations
    • Other occupational health assessments as required

    Reporting

    • Prepare detailed medical surveillance reports.
    • Submit findings and recommendations within 14 days after each assessment.
    • Maintain confidential employee medical records.

    Service Delivery

    • Provide all required medical equipment.
    • Maintain and calibrate occupational health assessment equipment.
    • Deliver services at municipal facilities or through mobile clinics.
    • Travel to Boshof, Dealesville, Hertzogville, and other designated municipal sites.
    • Provide emergency occupational health consultations where required.

    Minimum Requirements

    Interested bidders must have:

    • A Medical Degree (MBChB).
    • A Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Occupational Health and Safety.
    • A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in Occupational Health.
    • Experience providing occupational health services to at least three institutions.
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
    • Registration with the South African Society of Occupational Medicine (SASOM) will be an added advantage.

    Technical Requirements

    The successful bidder must demonstrate the ability to:

    • Conduct comprehensive occupational health assessments.
    • Operate and maintain occupational health testing equipment.
    • Provide audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, and related examinations.
    • Submit detailed reports within prescribed timeframes.
    • Operate mobile occupational health services where required.
    • Respond to emergency consultations.
    • Travel throughout the municipality to deliver services.
