    About the Opportunity

    Rosebank College is building a talent pool of qualified lecturers for future expansion of its Bachelor of Education Honours programmes. The institution is seeking experienced Natural Science educators who are passionate about teaching, student development, curriculum delivery, and academic excellence in higher education.

    This role focuses on lecturing B.Ed Honours students, supporting academic success, developing assessments, monitoring student performance, and contributing to teaching and learning excellence.

    Main Purpose of the Position

    The Lecturer will:

    • Deliver high-quality Natural Science lectures.
    • Support student learning and academic development.
    • Develop and administer assessments.
    • Identify and support at-risk students.
    • Monitor student engagement and academic performance.
    • Contribute to curriculum implementation and academic quality assurance.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Teaching and Learning

    • Present lectures according to module requirements and academic schedules.
    • Facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences.
    • Deliver course content aligned with curriculum standards.
    • Support both face-to-face and digital learning environments.

    Student Support

    • Provide academic guidance and consultation sessions.
    • Identify and support students experiencing academic difficulties.
    • Monitor attendance, participation, and assessment submissions.
    • Refer at-risk students through appropriate academic support channels.

    Assessment and Evaluation

    • Develop assessments in collaboration with the Central Academic Team.
    • Prepare students for tests, assignments, and examinations.
    • Mark assessments and provide constructive feedback.
    • Analyse academic results and recommend interventions where necessary.

    Learning Management System Administration

    • Upload learning materials and academic resources.
    • Maintain accurate student records.
    • Update academic information on institutional systems.
    • Communicate feedback and announcements to students.

    Academic Quality Assurance

    • Participate in faculty meetings and academic forums.
    • Review module performance and student outcomes.
    • Assist in maintaining academic standards and compliance.
    • Support continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.

    Professional Development

    • Participate in academic development programmes.
    • Attend workshops and training opportunities.
    • Maintain professional knowledge within Natural Science education.
    • Contribute to improving teaching methodologies and academic practices.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Bachelor of Education Master’s Degree (Natural Science specialization preferred).
    • Qualification must be at least one NQF level higher than the qualification being taught.
    • Academic transcript must be submitted.

    Preferred Areas of Specialisation

    Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following may be advantageous:

    Experience Requirements

    Essential

    • 2–3 years lecturing experience or formal tutoring experience.
    • School teaching experience in Natural Science subjects.

    Advantageous

    • 1–3 years industry-specific experience in Natural Science fields.
    • Experience teaching within higher education institutions.
    • Experience with online and blended learning platforms.

    Working Hours

    • Monday to Friday
    • Classes scheduled between 08:00 and 17:00
