JOB DESCRIPTION
The General Worker is responsible for performing basic warehouse and logistics duties within a cold storage/freezer environment.
The role ensures that goods are:
- Handled safely and correctly
- Loaded and offloaded efficiently
- Stored according to company standards
- Maintained in a clean and compliant environment
This is a physically demanding role requiring reliability, discipline, and the ability to work in cold temperatures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Warehouse Operations
- Load, offload, and stack goods correctly
- Handle products according to instructions from supervisors
- Ensure correct quantities and products are processed
- Report damaged or missing goods
2. Cold Storage Duties
- Work in freezer and low-temperature environments
- Perform cleaning tasks in cold areas (including ice removal)
- Use PPE (protective equipment) at all times
3. Cleaning & Housekeeping
- Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, offices, and facilities
- Keep loading and receiving areas clean
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety standards
4. Compliance & Safety
- Follow all Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures
- Use PPE correctly at all times
- Attend induction and follow operational guidelines
5. Team Support
- Work as part of a warehouse team
- Assist supervisors and shift managers as needed
- Perform additional duties when required
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric / National Certificate)
Physical Requirements
- Good physical strength and stamina
- Ability to work in cold environments (freezers)
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items
Experience
- Warehouse experience is preferred but not required (training provided)
Skills
- Basic English communication
- Basic mathematics
- Ability to follow instructions
Other Requirements
- Willing to work shifts, nights, and overtime
- Own transport
- Clear criminal record
- Reliable, disciplined, and hard-working
