     Role Purpose

    This role focuses on delivering professional pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients receive the correct medication, guidance, and support for their health needs while complying with legal and ethical standards.

     Key Responsibilities

     Pharmaceutical Care

    • Evaluate patient needs and ensure safe and effective treatment
    • Dispense medication accurately and responsibly
    • Provide advice on medicine usage and health conditions
    • Monitor patient compliance and follow up when needed

     Dispensing & Compliance

    • Interpret prescriptions correctly
    • Check and sign off prescriptions (including intern work)
    • Ensure compliance with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) regulations
    • Manage chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication authorisations

     Patient Support

    • Assist customers at:
      • Dispensary
      • Self-medication counter
    • Explain medical aid costs and processes
    • Maintain accurate patient profiles and records

     Stock & Administration

    • Monitor stock levels and report shortages
    • Assist with stock control and audits
    • Process medical aid claims and correct rejected scripts
    • Maintain compliance with Dis-Chem procedures and health regulations

     Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • BPharm (or equivalent qualification)
    • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
    • 2–3 years pharmaceutical experience (including internship)
    • Retail pharmacy experience
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)

     Advantageous

    • SAP / Unisolv system experience
    • E-scripting knowledge
    • Additional language
    • FMCG / retail experience
    • Registered tutor

    • Knowledge of dosages and drug interactions
    • Excellent communication & patient care skills
    • Leadership and supervisory ability
    • Problem-solving and conflict management
    • Ability to work under pressure

     Special Requirements

    • Must be registered with SAPC
    • Willing to work retail hours
    • Physically able to stand for long periods
    • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
    • Clear criminal and credit record
