Role Purpose
The Diesel Technician is responsible for carrying out maintenance, fault-finding, and repair work on Volvo heavy commercial vehicles, ensuring work meets the company’s quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Fault Finding
Perform fault-finding and diagnostics on Volvo vehicles
Identify and interpret performance issues or mechanical failures
Use Volvo manuals and service literature for accurate diagnosis
Maintenance & Repairs
Carry out repairs and maintenance according to Volvo standards
Follow all technical specifications and workshop procedures
Ensure work completed meets quality and efficiency requirements
Technical Reporting
Provide detailed diagnostic and repair reports
Document:
Component failures
Observations and findings
Actions taken
Repair recommendations
Breakdown Support
Follow correct procedures for vehicle breakdowns
Liaise with drivers before responding to breakdown calls
Ensure all documentation is accurate and completed before submission
Compliance & Safety
Follow ISO 9001 standards
Comply with workshop safety regulations
Ensure adherence to company quality and safety procedures
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Matric / N3
Trade Test Certificate – Qualified Diesel Mechanic
Experience
Minimum 3 years dealership experience in heavy commercial vehicle repairs and maintenance
Key Competencies
Ability to use measuring and diagnostic equipment
Strong mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills
Ability to interpret technical manuals and specifications
Good English communication skills
Computer literacy
