Purpose of the Role
The Machine Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production machines to ensure:
- Efficient production output
- Minimal waste
- High product quality
The role focuses on optimising machine performance in a manufacturing/packaging environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up machines for production lines
- Maintain consistent setup standards
- Perform product changeovers efficiently
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Conduct routine operator maintenance
- Diagnose and fix machine faults
- Perform daily machine checks and analyses
3. Production Efficiency
- Plan workflows to meet production targets
- Optimise machine performance and resource use
- Minimise waste and maximise productivity
4. Quality Control
- Monitor product quality during production
- Establish and maintain quality standards
- Ensure consistency in output
5. Training & Team Support
- Train machine operators
- Ensure operators meet required standards
- Support team development and performance
6. Health & Safety
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures
- Ensure compliance with workplace standards
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / equivalent
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a machine operator
- Experience with Triumph machines (advantage)
- Experience in:
- Bag-making processes
- Packaging production
- Flexographic printing (advantage)

- Strong planning and time management
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Ability to work under pressure
- Self-motivated and independent
