- JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of the Role
This apprenticeship is designed to provide hands-on technical training to become a qualified Millwright.
You will work under experienced artisans to learn how to:
- Install and maintain machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Repair industrial equipment
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Machinery Installation & Maintenance
- Assist in installing and assembling machinery
- Help dismantle and repair equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on:
- Motors
- Pumps
- Conveyors
- Gearboxes
2. Technical Skills Development
- Learn to read:
- Blueprints
- Technical diagrams
- Equipment manuals
- Use tools such as:
- Hand tools
- Power tools
- Measuring instruments
3. Equipment Alignment & Repair
- Assist with machine alignment
- Use hoists, jacks, and measuring tools
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain machinery
4. Workplace Safety & Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
5. Training & Development
- Attend classroom training sessions
- Complete apprenticeship learning requirements
- Gain practical and theoretical knowledge
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
Experience (Advantageous)
- Basic experience in:
- Construction
- Maintenance
- Mechanical trades
- Pre-apprenticeship training (preferred)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interest in mechanical work
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
