Job Description
The Deputy Director will oversee the implementation of labour centre operational strategies and ensure that services are delivered according to the mandate of the Department of Employment and Labour.
The role involves managing financial, human, and operational resources, ensuring compliance with Public Service regulations, representing the department in stakeholder forums, and driving service delivery improvement initiatives.
The position also requires maintaining effective governance, accountability, and operational efficiency within the Labour Centre.
Responsibilities
Service Delivery Management
- Manage service delivery objectives according to departmental mandates
- Implement and monitor service delivery improvement plans
- Ensure efficient labour centre operations and customer service delivery
- Promote Batho Pele principles and service excellence
Stakeholder and Government Relations
- Represent the department in stakeholder forums
- Participate in interdepartmental government structures and municipal engagements
- Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders
Resource Management
- Manage financial, human, and operational resources
- Oversee asset management and supply chain processes
- Ensure effective utilization of departmental resources
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure compliance with:
- Public Service Act and Regulations
- HRM policies and directives
- Treasury Regulations
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- Labour legislation and departmental policies
Leadership and Supervision
- Lead and supervise Labour Centre staff
- Promote accountability and high performance
- Manage conflict and workplace challenges
- Support staff development and operational effectiveness
Requirements
Educational Requirements
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:
- Three-year National Diploma (NQF 6), or
- Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7)
