Job Description
The Assistant Director will coordinate and manage fleet management services and travel operations across the province. The role focuses on ensuring proper maintenance and utilization of departmental vehicles, monitoring transport-related compliance, and managing operational resources within the division.
The position also includes supervising transport-related processes, overseeing subsidized motor transport schemes, and ensuring effective implementation of departmental fleet policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Fleet and Transport Management
- Monitor compliance with travel management and fleet policies
- Manage the departmental vehicle asset register
- Ensure proper utilization and control of departmental vehicles
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer specifications
- Monitor fleet operational efficiency
Travel and Operational Support
- Support and oversee travel booking processes
- Manage the subsidized motor transport scheme
- Ensure transport services operate effectively and efficiently
Accident and Compliance Management
- Monitor implementation of accident management procedures
- Ensure compliance with:
- Public Financial Management Act (PFMA)
- National Road Traffic Act
- Departmental policies and procedures
Resource and Staff Management
- Manage all resources within the division
- Supervise staff and operational activities
- Promote accountability and effective service delivery
- Support employee development and performance management
Requirements
Educational Requirements
Applicants must possess an undergraduate qualification (NQF 6) in one of the following:

Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience, including:
- 2 years supervisory experience
