Position Purpose
The Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to customers. The role involves vehicle inspections, accurate deliveries, customer service, compliance with road and safety regulations, maintaining delivery records, and ensuring products reach customers on time and in good condition.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation and Deliveries
- Safely operate the assigned delivery truck.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy before commencing deliveries.
- Deliver goods accurately and within scheduled timelines.
- Verify delivery documentation and customer orders.
- Ensure products are transported safely and securely.
Record Keeping and Administration
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Mileage
- Fuel consumption
- Delivery receipts
- Vehicle incidents or accidents
- Ensure all records comply with company and legal requirements.
- Keep delivery documentation organised and readily available.
Customer Service
- Maintain professional communication with customers.
- Assist customers with delivery-related queries.
- Provide courteous and efficient service at all times.
- Build positive relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Vehicle Maintenance Reporting
- Monitor the condition of the assigned vehicle.
- Report mechanical faults and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Follow company procedures regarding repairs and maintenance.
- Help prevent vehicle downtime through early fault reporting.
Compliance and Safety
- Comply with:
- Road traffic regulations
- Company policies and procedures
- Health and safety standards
- Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Promote a safe working environment.
- Operate vehicles according to company safety standards.
Housekeeping and Equipment Management
- Maintain a clean and organised vehicle.
- Ensure all required equipment and documentation are available.
- Remove unnecessary items and debris from the vehicle.
- Keep delivery tools and equipment in good condition.

- Attend meetings, coaching sessions, and training programmes.
- Support team objectives and operational goals.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
Licences
- Valid Code 10 or Code 14 (EC) Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional driving experience.
- FMCG or retail delivery experience will be advantageous.
