Job Overview
Clicks Frankfort is looking for an experienced Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in driving sales, customer loyalty and efficient store operations.
The successful candidate will help manage the store’s financial performance, stock, staff, merchandising, customer service and compliance requirements. They will also take responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
This role is suited to a results-driven retail professional with experience in store management, financial management, people leadership and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Financial Performance
- Support the Store Manager in achieving the store’s financial targets.
- Drive and maximise sales across the store.
- Execute promotional activities effectively.
- Drive cross-selling and up-selling initiatives.
- Promote superior customer service to increase customer loyalty.
- Monitor performance against sales and profit targets.
- Apply financial-management principles to store operations.
- Assist with budgets, profit and loss statements and financial ratios.
Store Operations
- Ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the store.
- Manage operational expenses.
- Oversee stock-management activities.
- Monitor and reduce stock shrinkage.
- Ensure effective risk and compliance management.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
- Complete required administrative duties.
- Ensure store procedures and policies are consistently followed.
Visual Merchandising
- Execute in-store visual merchandising strategies.
- Ensure promotional displays meet Clicks standards.
- Maintain appropriate product presentation.
- Ensure the overall appearance of the store reflects the Clicks brand image.
People Management
- Support the Store Manager in motivating and directing employees.
- Ensure employees work towards their individual and store performance targets.
- Manage staff effectively when the Store Manager is absent.
- Assist with daily staff scheduling.
- Ensure each department is appropriately staffed.
- Maintain work schedules in line with the Group’s labour policy and labour model.
- Ensure weekly time-and-attendance information is accurately completed.
- Ensure employee records are submitted to HR.
- Support people-development and performance-management processes.
- Apply knowledge of labour legislation and employee-relations practices.
Customer Service
- Implement customer-service initiatives that create an excellent customer experience.
- Build customer loyalty.
- Drive Clicks ClubCard participation.
- Ensure employees consistently deliver professional customer service.
- Help position Clicks as the customer’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- 50% in Mathematics and 50% in English.
- Relevant Retail or Business Management qualification for external applicants.
- At least 1 year’s experience in an Assistant Store Manager role within a retail/FMCG environment.
Alternative:
- Successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
