Job Overview
Clicks Universitas is looking for a Shop Assistant Cashier to provide excellent customer service while efficiently managing point-of-sale (POS) activities, cash handling and in-store merchandising.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate transactions, promoting Clicks ClubCard memberships and promotions, assisting customers and maintaining high store standards.
This role is ideal for a customer-focused individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment and has strong communication, numeracy and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service.
- Act as a Clicks brand ambassador and create a positive customer experience.
- Assist customers with queries and provide accurate product information.
- Keep up to date with products, ranges, promotions and special events.
- Inform customers about current promotions to support sales.
- Promote the Clicks ClubCard programme.
- Encourage customers to join ClubCard and help achieve participation targets.
Cashier & POS Operations
- Efficiently execute all point-of-sale activities.
- Scan merchandise accurately.
- Process customer payments correctly.
- Action ClubCard rewards where applicable.
- Handle cash safely and responsibly.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy when processing transactions.
- Follow all relevant POS and cash-handling procedures.
Merchandising & Housekeeping
- Execute merchandising activities according to store standards.
- Maintain visual merchandising standards.
- Ensure shelves and displays are properly maintained.
- Complete general housekeeping duties.
- Support stock-management processes.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and attractive store environment.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
Desirable:
- Grade 12 Mathematics – 50%.
- Grade 12 English – 50%.
- N6 Business Management.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG environment.
Knowledge
Candidates should have:
- Basic mathematical calculation skills.
