Job Overview
Sanlam Developing Markets is seeking a Branch Consultant / Financial Advisor to promote Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM) products, grow market share and provide clients with professional financial advice and service.
The successful candidate will assist clients in understanding their financial needs and goals, recommend suitable and affordable products, build lasting client relationships and identify opportunities for cross-selling and client optimisation.
The role combines sales, financial advice, customer service, compliance, administration and relationship management within a branch environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Financial Advice
- Promote Sanlam Retail Mass products and services.
- Provide sound financial advice and professional client service.
- Develop a strong understanding of the SRM product range.
- Understand each client’s financial needs, goals and circumstances.
- Recommend suitable and affordable financial products.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and value-added products.
- Keep clients informed about new products and changes to existing products.
- Review client portfolios and incorporate relevant product changes.
- Validate client information in accordance with regulatory and product requirements.
- Submit new business through the correct channels.
- Conduct due diligence to identify potential client risks.
- Manage daily appointments while making time for walk-in and non-appointed clients.
Client Service & Retention
- Service and manage existing client profiles to retain clients.
- Send payment reminders and conduct client follow-ups.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and address their queries.
- Monitor and report on NTUs (Not Taken Up).
- Implement controls and corrective actions to improve client take-up.
- Manage payment persistency for the benefit of both clients and the branch.
- Assess client risk profiles and proactively identify where assistance may be required.
- Discuss alternative payment arrangements with clients and ensure these are correctly processed and recorded.
- Assist clients with policy cancellations by explaining available alternatives.
- Resolve client queries at branch level where possible.
- Escalate complex queries to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Follow up on escalated matters and keep clients informed of progress.
- Deliver service in line with Sanlam’s client-experience standards.
Compliance & Continuous Development
- Remain up to date with regulatory, compliance and quality requirements.
- Maintain product knowledge and professional registration.
- Keep CPD points up to date.
- Identify and report potential risks and fraudulent activities.
- Maintain appropriate records of financial advice provided.
- Log activities in accordance with regulations and standard operating procedures.
- Provide accurate information to stakeholders for reporting and decision-making.
Planning & Reporting
- Report daily activities using relevant technology platforms.
- Collate activity data for weekly and monthly reporting.
- Meet reporting deadlines.
- Complete ad hoc tasks requested by the Retail Branch Manager.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should have:
- Matric / Grade 12.
- At least 1 year’s experience in sales or marketing.
- Experience in an insurance branch will be advantageous.
- RE5 will be advantageous.
- Must be FAIS compliant in Wealth Management, in accordance with DOFA requirements.
- Class of Business training must be completed within 12 months of employment.
