    Position Overview

    The Programme Coordinator: Law is an academic leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery, coordination, and quality of Law programmes within the institution. The role combines teaching responsibilities with programme management, student support, curriculum development, and academic leadership.

    The successful candidate will ensure academic excellence, programme compliance, student success, and effective coordination of lecturers, students, and academic resources.

    Main Purpose of the Role

    The Programme Coordinator: Law will:

    • Deliver and lecture allocated Law modules.
    • Coordinate programme delivery and curriculum implementation.
    • Support student academic success and retention.
    • Monitor academic performance and identify at-risk students.
    • Manage academic administration and programme operations.
    • Contribute to curriculum development and assessment design.
    • Ensure academic quality and compliance with institutional standards.
    • Promote a strong academic culture within the Law faculty.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Teaching and Learning

    • Deliver Law-related modules in line with institutional requirements.
    • Facilitate student engagement inside and outside the classroom.
    • Provide continuous academic support and consultation.
    • Assist students with preparation for assessments and examinations.
    • Apply effective teaching and learning methodologies.

    2. Academic Support and Student Success

    • Identify and support at-risk students.
    • Implement student intervention strategies.
    • Monitor academic progress and module performance.
    • Provide structured academic guidance and mentorship.
    • Support student development and retention initiatives.

    3. Programme Coordination

    • Oversee coordination of the Law programme.
    • Manage student onboarding and induction processes.
    • Coordinate student admissions into the programme.
    • Participate in curriculum and material review processes.
    • Support development of assessments and learning materials.
    • Ensure programme alignment with academic standards.

    4. Academic Performance Management

    • Analyse student results and module performance.
    • Identify underperforming modules and implement improvements.
    • Support academic quality assurance processes.
    • Contribute to programme enhancement initiatives.
    • Report on academic outcomes and trends.

    5. Academic Administration

    • Support student academic records and documentation.
    • Manage student consultations and academic support sessions.
    • Assist in timetabling and academic scheduling.
    • Ensure compliance with institutional academic processes.

    6. Academic Leadership and Management

    • Support onboarding of academic and support staff.
    • Contribute to the development of academic culture on campus.
    • Support integration between academic and student support services.
    • Participate in academic management and planning activities.
    • Assist in recruitment and oversight of lecturers and contractors.

    7. Resource and Staff Management

    • Support recruitment of:
      • Full-Time Lecturers
      • Independent Contractors
    • Assist in allocation of academic resources.
    • Support management of teaching teams within the programme.

    Minimum Requirements

    Educational Qualifications

    Essential

    • Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9) in Law or related field

    Advantageous

    • PhD (NQF Level 10) in Law or related discipline
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education

    Experience Requirements

    Essential

    • 3–5 years lecturing experience in higher education
    • 3–5 years experience in teaching and student support
    • 5 years industry experience in Law or related field
