Job Description
Grain Field Chickens is seeking a Poultry Meat Examiner to inspect carcass quality on the production line and ensure compliance with the Meat Safety Act and company quality standards.
The role is based at the company’s abattoir in Reitz, Free State.
Main Responsibilities
Quality Inspection
- Inspect poultry carcasses on the production line.
- Ensure all products comply with the Meat Safety Act.
- Prevent unnecessary product rejection and losses.
Product Handling
- Remove or partially condemn damaged carcasses when required.
- Ensure proper recovery of portions according to specifications.
Health and Safety
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GFC standards and meat safety regulations.
Reporting and Administration
- Report all variances to the Head of Department.
- Liaise with internal departments to maintain product quality.
- Complete compulsory training successfully.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- Valid and approved PME Certificate.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Clear criminal record.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.

- Work overtime
- Work weekends and public holidays when required
Advantageous Requirements
- Previous Poultry Meat Examiner (PME) experience.
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy as a school subject.
