Job Description
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in running the store efficiently and takes responsibility for store operations when the Store Manager is absent. The role focuses on staff supervision, customer service, stock control, administration, and maintaining company standards.
Main Responsibilities
Store Operations
- Assist with daily store operations.
- Relieve the Store Manager when necessary.
- Ensure company procedures and standards are followed.
Cash and Banking Administration
- Handle banking of store money.
- Oversee cash office operations.
- Ensure front-end financial controls are maintained.
Stock and Loss Control
- Minimise stock loss and shrinkage.
- Maintain merchandising and housekeeping standards.
- Monitor store security and discipline procedures.
Staff Management
- Assist with managing and supervising employees.
- Support staff productivity and performance.
- Help maintain a positive and professional work environment.
Sales and Customer Service
- Support customer service excellence.
- Introduce sales initiatives to help achieve store targets.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
- Mathematics is advantageous.
- Previous experience:
- Managing people
- Managing a department
- Previous clothing retail experience is highly advantageous.
