Job Description
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for managing warehouse operations during shifts to ensure the efficient execution of loading plans, inventory control, product quality management, warehouse compliance, labour productivity, and customer service requirements. The role focuses on maintaining inventory accuracy, optimizing warehouse performance, ensuring safety compliance, and leading warehouse teams to achieve operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Lead and perform daily inventory counts.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and improve inventory accuracy KPIs.
- Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded in SAP.
- Implement and maintain a First Expired, First Out (FEFO) inventory system.
- Track and analyse inventory trends and variances.
Warehouse Operations
- Ensure proper warehouse layout and storage management.
- Manage designated warehouse zones, including:
- Finished Goods
- Empties
- Refusals
- Repacking
- Order Picking Areas
- Implement a location-based inventory management system.
- Ensure non-conforming stock is correctly identified and blocked.
Quality Control
- Monitor product quality standards.
- Manage warehouse cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Ensure pest control schedules are followed.
- Monitor temperature controls and storage conditions.
- Prevent contamination from non-food-grade chemicals.
- Conduct product quality induction programmes.
Repacking and Picking Operations
- Supervise repacking activities to ensure quality standards are met.
- Improve repacking productivity and efficiency.
- Implement standardised picking processes.
- Monitor picking accuracy and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with warehouse productivity standards.
Team Leadership and Labour Management
- Allocate labour resources using workforce planning tools.
- Supervise warehouse staff and daily operations.
- Coach, train, and develop team members.
- Conduct routine team meetings.
- Communicate performance targets and operational objectives.
- Monitor individual and team performance against KPIs.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement and maintain 5S workplace organisation standards.
- Use problem-solving methodologies such as:
- 5 WHY Analysis
- PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act)
- OPLs
- SIC
- Abnormality Reports
- RACI
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Drive operational efficiency and cost reduction initiatives.
Safety and Compliance
- Promote a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with warehouse safety regulations.
- Monitor loading and unloading bay utilisation.
- Ensure compliance with Global Warehouse Good Operating Practices (GOPs).
- Maintain adherence to company policies and procedures.
Performance Monitoring
- Track and report key warehouse performance indicators, including:
- Inventory Accuracy
- Warehouse Productivity
- Bay Utilisation
- Turnaround Times (TCT)
- Labour Productivity
- Loading and Unloading Efficiency
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- 3-year Diploma or Degree in:
- Logistics
- Supply Chain Management
- Warehouse Management
- Operations Management
- Related field
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in:
- Warehousing
- Logistics
- Distribution Operations
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- SAP proficiency.
- Experience using handheld warehouse devices.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems.
