     Job Purpose

    To lead and manage the entire financial function of the department, ensuring proper budgeting, reporting, compliance, and financial governance.

     In simple terms:
    You are responsible for all money, budgets, and financial systems in the department.

     Salary & Benefits

    • R1,494,900 per year (all-inclusive package)

     Key Responsibilities

     Financial Management

    • Oversee departmental finances
    • Ensure efficient use of funds
    • Monitor budgets and spending

     Financial Planning & Strategy

    • Support strategic planning with financial insights
    • Provide financial advice to senior leadership

     Reporting & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with:
      • Public Finance Management Act
      • Treasury Regulations
      • Financial reporting standards (GRAP)
    • Prepare and submit financial statements

     Audit & Governance

    • Work with Auditor-General
    • Ensure strong internal controls
    • Monitor risks and financial performance

     Budget & Resource Control

    • Manage budget processes
    • Ensure proper allocation of funds
    • Apply cost-benefit analysis

     Supply Chain Management

    • Oversee procurement systems
    • Ensure compliance with policies (PPPFA, SCM rules)

     Stakeholder Engagement

    • Liaise with:
      • National Treasury
      • Other government departments
      • Internal managers

     Minimum Requirements

     Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Finance/Accounting or related

     Experience

    • At least 5 years at senior management level
    • Strong experience in:
      • Financial management
      • Auditing
      • Government finance

     Required Knowledge

    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
    • Treasury Regulations
    • GRAP (financial reporting standards)
    • PPPFA (procurement laws)
    • Labour laws (LRA, BCEA)
    • Government financial systems
