Job Description
The Database and System Technical Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the company’s IT systems, servers, and databases. The role includes server setup, SQL administration, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting operational IT platforms.
This is a technical role suited to someone with strong problem-solving skills, systems administration experience, and database management knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Server and Systems Administration
- Setup and maintain Linux and Windows servers.
- Configure and troubleshoot hardware and systems.
- Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions.
- Coordinate system changes and software deployments.
Database Administration
- Configure and administer Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Perform database maintenance, backups, and restores.
- Monitor database performance and replication jobs.
- Work with SQL scripts including:
- DDL (Data Definition Language)
- DML (Data Manipulation Language)
Monitoring and Technical Support
- Monitor reports, queues, services, and environments.
- Troubleshoot backup systems and server issues.
- Provide technical support to users and departments.
- Liaise with third parties to resolve system problems.
IT Operations and Team Collaboration
- Work within a highly technical TechOPS team.
- Support operational IT platforms and infrastructure.
- Contribute to system stability and performance improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Strong technical systems administration experience.
- Experience supporting:
- Windows platforms
- Linux platforms
- SQL scripting and relational database experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with technical troubleshooting and support.
Advantageous Experience
The following would be beneficial:
- Previous VKB Group experience.
- Familiarity with VKB systems and operations.
- Experience working with production systems and infrastructure environments.
