    Job Purpose

    To teach and lecture Social Science modules according to programme requirements, support student learning and academic success, develop assessments, monitor student performance, identify at-risk students, and contribute to academic quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    Teaching and Learning

    • Deliver lectures according to module requirements and schedules.
    • Facilitate student learning and engagement.
    • Follow module pacing and academic guidelines.
    • Ensure students are adequately prepared for assessments.

    Student Support

    • Identify and support at-risk students.
    • Monitor student participation and engagement.
    • Provide academic guidance and feedback.
    • Assist students with academic challenges.

    Assessment Management

    • Develop assessments in collaboration with the Central Academic Team.
    • Mark and evaluate student assessments.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students.
    • Monitor assessment submissions and escalate concerns where necessary.

    Academic Administration

    • Update and manage information on the Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Maintain academic records and documentation.
    • Consult with the Information Centre regarding academic resources.
    • Participate in faculty and academic meetings.

    Academic Performance Monitoring

    • Track and analyse student results.
    • Review module performance and outcomes.
    • Assist Programme Coordinators in identifying at-risk modules.
    • Support interventions aimed at improving student success.

    Professional Development

    • Participate in academic development programmes.
    • Enhance teaching and learning practices.
    • Maintain and improve professional academic standing.
    • Stay informed about developments in higher education.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Honours Degree in:
      • Political Studies, or
      • Criminal Psychology, or
      • A closely related field at third-year level.

    Experience

    • 2–3 years lecturing experience or formal tutoring experience.
    • 1–3 years industry experience within the area of specialization will be advantageous.

    • Understanding of teaching and learning theories.
