Responsibilities of a Betting Clerk
Branch Growth and Betting Operations
- The Betting Clerk will be responsible for managing and updating betting boards, memos, results, and scratchings throughout the day.
- A strong knowledge of betting rules, odds, and payouts is required to provide accurate information to customers.
- In cases where betting confirmation is necessary, the Betting Clerk will need to follow established procedures by consulting with the BSC and Events Office.
- The successful candidate must also inform Team Leaders or Betting Managers about any large bets that exceed the required confirmation limit.
Sales and Cash Management
- Managing cash transactions efficiently and minimizing risks related to fraud and theft.
- The Betting Clerk is expected to stay alert to potential fraudulent activities and ensure compliance with company procedures.
- Ensuring accurate float amounts at the beginning of each shift.
- Conducting interim checks with the team leader throughout the day.
- Immediately addressing cash shortages, especially those below R250, by ensuring they are settled on the same day.
- Declaring all cash shortages and overs to the team leader and ensuring proper documentation.
Maintaining Branch Standards
- Ensuring that the branch remains neat and tidy according to Hollywoodbets standards.
- Workstations must be well maintained, and all terminal/equipment malfunctions must be reported promptly to avoid operational disruptions.
- Playing a role in preventing financial losses by identifying potential risks and adhering to all security and operational guidelines.
Customer Service Excellence
- Providing outstanding customer service by being friendly, helpful, and courteous at all times.
- Addressing customer complaints proactively and providing positive feedback.
- Building strong relationships with regular customers to create a welcoming environment.
- Promoting a customer-centric culture within the branch.
Compliance and Ethical Standards
- Adhering to strict internal control policies and the company’s code of ethics.
- Wearing the correct Hollywood uniform while on duty.
- Prohibiting credit bets under any circumstances.
- Avoiding betting while on duty or while wearing Hollywoodbets attire.
- Ensuring that the Limited Pay-out Machine is not used during working hours.
- Contributing to a responsible and ethical gambling environment.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in the gaming industry.
Preferred Qualifications (Advantageous but Not Mandatory)
- Diploma or Degree in a related field.
- Valid Driver’s License.
