    Job Overview

    Vox Telecommunications is looking for a hands-on and technically capable Engineer – Voice/Data/Wireless Services to install, configure and maintain voice, data and wireless services.

    This is a field-based position that requires the successful candidate to visit customer sites, troubleshoot technical issues and ensure Vox customers receive reliable, professional service.

    The role is suited to a practical and methodical IT or telecommunications professional who is comfortable working independently, solving technical problems and communicating technical information to customers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Install and maintain FttH and FttB routers.
    • Install and configure Wi-Fi access points.
    • Install and maintain wireless equipment, including:
      • Comsol
      • Satellite
      • Tarana
    • Install, configure and support 3CX voice solutions.
    • Conduct customer site surveys when required.
    • Safely use power tools and ladders when mounting equipment.
    • Accurately use testing equipment when commissioning and maintaining Vox products and services.
    • Manage customer requirements from initial request through to resolution.
    • Respond to and resolve customer queries.
    • Liaise with other departments to resolve technical and customer-related issues.
    • Produce accurate and professional technical reports.
    • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
    • Participate in the National Standby rotation for after-hours customer support.
    • Work after hours and weekends when required.

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience

    • Matric / Grade 12 or N4 Electronics/IT.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in VoIP installation and maintenance.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in data installation and maintenance, including:
      • ADSL
      • MPLS
      • VPN
      • Firewalls
    • At least 2 years’ working knowledge of GSM, VoIP, data and customer service management.
    • Comfortable working at heights.
    • Competent in using power tools, ladders and testing equipment.
    • Valid driver’s licence.
    • Willingness to travel to customer sites.
    • Proficiency in:
      • Microsoft Word
      • Microsoft Excel
      • Microsoft Outlook
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.
    • Ability to work independently at customer sites and as part of a wider team.

    Preferred Qualifications & Experience

    The following will be advantageous:

    • IT Certificate.
    • A+ and N+ certifications.
    • CCNA certification.
    • MTCNA certification.
    • Previous telecommunications or Internet Service Provider experience.
    • Experience with Tarana, Comsol or satellite wireless platforms.
