Job Overview
VKB Group is looking for an experienced Risk Manager to join its Risk Management function at the Group’s Head Office in Reitz.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework across the VKB Group. The role will provide independent oversight of strategic, operational, financial, regulatory and emerging risks while supporting management and governance structures with forward-looking analysis and scenario planning.
This position is suited to a senior risk professional with strong analytical, financial and business acumen who can translate complex risk information into practical insights for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain the VKB Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Identify, assess, monitor and report on strategic, operational, financial, compliance and emerging risks.
- Develop and monitor risk-management methodologies, policies, frameworks and reporting standards.
- Coordinate and consolidate enterprise-wide risk registers.
- Manage enterprise risk reporting processes.
- Establish and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Develop and monitor risk appetite statements and risk tolerance levels.
- Ensure risk practices align with regulatory, compliance and governance requirements.
- Support Executive Management, Risk Committees and the Board through comprehensive risk analysis and reporting.
- Conduct forward-looking analysis and scenario planning.
- Identify emerging risks, trends and opportunities that could affect strategic objectives.
- Promote and embed a proactive risk-aware culture throughout the organisation.
- Work with Assurance Services, Compliance, Legal and operational management to coordinate governance activities.
- Maintain the independence of the risk-management function.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for Executive Management, Risk Committees and the Board.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Law or a related field.
- Relevant qualifications in Risk Management or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years’ experience in one or more of the following:
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Operational Risk Management
- Governance
- Risk Advisory
- Financial Risk Management
- Experience developing, implementing or enhancing ERM frameworks.
- Experience with risk governance processes.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior managerial or leadership role.
- Strong interest and understanding of financial analysis and business performance.
- Strong strategic-thinking and scenario-planning abilities.
- Proven knowledge of compliance, governance and risk frameworks.
- Ability to analyse data and convert it into meaningful business insights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Fluency in Afrikaans and English.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel.
