Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Driver to join its Fleurdal Mall team in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering products to customers, handling delivery documentation and payments, maintaining the company vehicle and providing professional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport products to customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure the correct products reach the correct customers within the required time.
- Prioritise fridge-line deliveries using cooler boxes and cold packs.
- Plan efficient routes to and from customer locations.
- Return to the store promptly after deliveries to facilitate additional deliveries.
- Secure and repack the vehicle to prevent damage to stock or the vehicle.
- Take responsibility for damages or losses during the delivery process.
- Handle fragile and hazardous products with appropriate care.
- Follow delivery and collection instructions from management.
- Check and process collections, store returns and inter-branch deliveries.
- Ensure all delivery paperwork and invoices are correctly completed and signed.
- Process customer payments via EFT and cash where required.
- Keep the vehicle secure and never leave it unattended during deliveries.
- Maintain a clean vehicle and complete the vehicle logbook accurately.
- Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions before, during and after trips.
- Report accidents, incidents, vehicle defects and other concerns to management.
- Comply with the National Road Traffic Act and company vehicle policies.
- Accept responsibility for applicable traffic fines.
- Build positive relationships with customers, management and staff.
- Provide professional, courteous service and report customer feedback or complaints.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Valid motorcycle and car driver’s licences.
- Willingness and ability to work retail hours and/or shifts.
Advantageous:
- Previous experience in a similar driving or delivery role.
- Bilingual communication skills.
- Ability to identify and report suspicious or inappropriate behaviour.
