Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the SCM department, ensuring alignment with institutional strategic goals

Oversee procurement processes to ensure fairness, equity, transparency, and compliance with university policies

Evaluate and improve SCM systems, procedures, and policies
-
Lead change management initiatives and stakeholder engagement
-
Manage supplier relationships and the institutional supplier database
-
Oversee tender processes, procurement decisions, and contract management
-
Ensure BBBEE compliance and promote preferential procurement
-
Supervise and develop SCM staff, including performance management and skills development
-
Coordinate reporting and submissions on non-compliance, tenders, business cases, and SCM metrics
-
Oversee additional functions such as contract management for rental equipment and store operations for graduations and internal supplies
Qualifications:
-
Professional Bachelor’s or Honours degree (NQF Level 8)
-
At least 8 years’ experience in supply chain management, with 3 years in a managerial capacity
Preferred Experience:
-
Experience in the higher education environment

Strong knowledge of SCM policies, tender processes, and internal financial control systems
-
Familiarity with business drivers and financial trends in higher education
-
Experience with management reporting and financial systems
