The Director: Environmental Management will provide strategic leadership in environmental compliance, waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental impact management across the province. The role requires ensuring that legislation is implemented effectively to protect the environment, prevent degradation, and promote sustainable development.

Requirements:
-
A recognised Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Natural Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field.
-
5 years of experience at middle/senior managerial level.

Strong knowledge of legislation governing:
-
Waste Management & Pollution Control
-
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
-
Environmental Compliance & Enforcement at National, Provincial & Local levels
-

Registration with EAPASA as a Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP).
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Environmental Impact Assessments.
-
Computer literacy and a valid driver’s licence.
-
Added Advantage: Knowledge of Project Management.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
-
Ensure effective environmental impact management across the province.
-
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and regulations.
-
Prevent environmental degradation by enforcing air quality and waste management legislation and policies.
-
Prevent pollution and oversee the implementation of waste management strategies.
-
Manage the human, financial, and asset resources of the Directorate.
