Adcock Ingram is seeking a Deputy Pharmacist to join their Bloemfontein team. The Deputy Pharmacist will assist and deputise the Responsible Pharmacist in supervising pharmaceutical operations, maintaining quality systems, managing stock, and liaising with regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Pharmacist, it is essential to ensure compliance with Pharmacy Acts and regulations (Act 101 of 1965; Act 53 of 1973), SAHPRA, WHO/PICS guidelines, and OHS Act.

The Deputy Pharmacist must establish and maintain effective Quality Management Systems supporting SAHPRA licensing.

Review, approve, and implement SOPs, validation protocols, and reports in line with cGDP/GWP.
In this role, the Deputy Pharmacist will review, approve, and implement SOPs, validation protocols, and reports in line with cGDP/GWP.
Lead quality review meetings and escalate non-compliance issues as necessary.
Manage audits, CAPA processes, deviations, and non-conformance monitoring and close-out.
Oversee stock control, including S5 & S6 substances, Section 21 items, and returns.
Manage storage areas and reverse logistics processes.
Conduct pharmacovigilance reporting and sample third-party stock.
Deputise and assist the Responsible Pharmacist in daily operations and regulatory responsibilities.
The Deputy Pharmacist plays a crucial role in supporting the Responsible Pharmacist and ensuring the highest standards of pharmaceutical care.
Handle after-hours emergency calls related to storage conditions.
Lead risk assessments and engage with regulatory bodies including SAHPRA, DOH, and SAPC.
Participate in cross-functional teams and ensure compliance training.
Ensure secure access to pharmaceutical products and proper record keeping.
Support contract management with service providers and principals.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm).
Active registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
2-3 years relevant experience in pharmaceutical distribution or wholesale environment preferred.
Experience with Quality Management Systems advantageous.
Proficiency in MS Office; Oracle R12 experience is an advantage.
