The UFS is seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Director: Technical Security Services to manage, implement, and oversee advanced security systems and infrastructure projects across the institution. The role is part of the Protection Services unit under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: People & Operations, and includes project and contract management, access control oversight, infrastructure maintenance, and systems integration.

Responsibilities:

Develop and enforce service standards for technical security services
-
Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with service-level agreements
-
Oversee cost-effective contract renewals aligned with university strategy
-
Plan and manage technical security projects from initiation to closure
-
Develop technical specifications and ensure integration of CCTV, access control, AI-enabled systems, and alarm systems
-
Maintain and monitor server/network infrastructure and data integrity
-
Conduct audits and manage access control profiles
-
Prepare business cases, budget inputs, and procurement documentation
-
Lead and manage technical security personnel according to HR policies
Qualifications (Inherent Requirements):
-
Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma / BTech / Postgraduate Certificate (NQF Level 7) or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering

Valid PSIRA Grade B registration or willingness to obtain within six months
-
Valid Code 8 driver’s licence

Minimum of 4 years’ relevant working experience
Recommendations (Preferred):

Experience in the higher education sector

Certifications in Avigilon, CCTV systems, Impro (IXP400 & Impro Portal)

Project Management certification
-
Registration with ECSA
-
Knowledge of fire/intruder alarm systems, access control systems, and electric fence installations
