    Job Description

    The successful candidates will provide support in municipal accounting and asset management, with a focus on promoting compliance with financial reporting requirements and Generally Recognized Accounting Practice (GRAP) standards.

    The role will involve supporting municipalities in the preparation and timely submission of credible annual financial statements, monitoring compliance with accounting and asset management requirements, assisting municipalities to improve audit outcomes and providing support with internal control processes.

    Responsibilities

    • Promote adherence to Generally Recognized Accounting Practice (GRAP) standards.
    • Promote the timely submission of credible annual financial statements.
    • Support the monitoring of compliance with financial accounting and reporting requirements.
    • Support monitoring and compliance with accounting and asset management requirements.
    • Support municipalities in improving audit outcomes across all delegated municipalities.
    • Provide support and monitor internal controls within municipalities.
    • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of relevant municipal financial management requirements.

    Requirements

    • An appropriate degree or Advanced Diploma at NQF Level 7, majoring in Financial Accounting.
    • A minimum of three years’ experience in an accounting environment.
    • Knowledge of:
      • Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).
      • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
      • Municipal Structures Act (MSA).
      • Division of Revenue Act (DORA).
      • Treasury Regulations.
      • Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts (mSCOA).
      • Other relevant local government legislation.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Valid driver’s licence.
