    The Assistant Director: Internal Communication will lead the development and execution of internal communication strategies that align with the university’s goals. This role involves managing internal platforms, producing engaging content, overseeing communication campaigns, and supporting executive communication. The position also includes team supervision, budgeting, and contributing to institutional reputation and transparency.

    JOB OVERVIEW

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement strategic internal communication plans.

    • Manage internal communication platforms including newsletters, intranet, and institutional magazines.

    • Coordinate internal campaigns and special projects aligned with the university’s priorities.

    • Serve on crisis communication, risk management, and reputation management forums.

    • Lead the university’s Content Hub, overseeing content curation, editorial meetings, and production workflows.

    • Supervise and develop team members, manage performance, and support learning and development.

    • Oversee financial planning and budget management for the unit.

    • Monitor communication trends and implement best practices across channels.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma/B.Tech/Postgraduate Certificate (NQF Level 7) in Corporate Communication, Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field.

    • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience.

    Preferred:

    • Honours degree or postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Journalism, Media Studies, or Communication.

    • Experience in team management, speechwriting, and content production for print and digital platforms.

    • Proven track record in corporate/internal communication within higher education.

    • Strong computer literacy (especially MS Word and PowerPoint) and basic photography skills.
