The Free State Department of Education invites qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals to apply for the position of Administrative Support Officer (Ref No: PS7/2025/01) within the MEC Administrative Support Sub-Directorate. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating administrative, registry, and support services in the office of the MEC.

Minimum Requirements

A relevant Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) or equivalent qualification as recognized by SAQA.

A minimum of five (5) years’ experience post-qualification.

A valid driver’s license.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
-
Office Management: Oversee and coordinate support services within the MEC’s office.
-
Registry Management:
-
Manage registry counter services and attend to client enquiries.
-
Handle all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
-
Ensure proper filing, classification, storage, and retrieval of documents.

Mail and Records Administration:
-
Manage the receiving, sorting, registering, and dispatching of mail.
-
Maintain registry records and ensure accurate updating of registers daily.

Filing and Archiving:
-
Ensure efficient record management systems are in place.
-
Oversee file opening, closing, tracing, archiving, and disposal processes.

Transport and Logistics Coordination:
-
Supervise the departmental driver and oversee vehicle use, maintenance, and trip records.

Ensure safe and timely delivery of documents, mail, and office equipment.

Support Services:
-
Manage food aid and other administrative support services within the MEC’s office.
