Job Purpose and Scope
The Information Security Specialist will serve as a key guardian of VKB’s digital assets. This individual is responsible for protecting the organisation’s systems, networks, and data against cyber threats and ensuring the company maintains compliance with security regulations and frameworks.
The role involves working closely with the IT team to enforce robust security policies, conduct regular risk assessments, and respond swiftly to security incidents. A proactive approach to threat identification and mitigation is essential.
Core Responsibilities

Monitor IT systems for unusual activity and potential cyber threats.

Investigate security breaches and implement response strategies.

Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and risk analyses.

Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and standard operating procedures.

Administer security tools like firewalls, antivirus programs, and encryption protocols.

Stay informed on current security trends and technologies.

Ensure alignment with industry standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIST.

Deliver staff training on security best practices and awareness.

Assist in building secure IT infrastructure and applications.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related fields.

3 to 5 years of experience in information security or cybersecurity roles.

Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Auditor.

Experience in incident response and forensic analysis is advantageous.
Technical and Soft Skills

Deep understanding of network and system security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).

Location and Relocation Requirements
The Information Security Specialist role is based in Reitz, Eastern Free State, and applicants must be willing to relocate. This is an on-site position, and remote work is not an option.
