Job Purpose
To provide technical IT support in a computer lab environment, ensuring all systems, equipment, and software run smoothly for teaching, assessments, and daily academic use.
Key Responsibilities
IT Support & Maintenance
- Install and configure computers, software, and equipment
- Maintain and upgrade systems
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
Lab & Academic Support
- Assist during practical sessions and assessments
- Support students and tutors in the lab
- Ensure smooth operation during tests (especially ECLA system)
Systems & Lab Setup
- Set up lab environments for teaching
- Perform software imaging, updates, and configurations
- Maintain the CSIL and ECLA systems
Monitoring & Reporting
- Inspect equipment regularly
- Compile weekly maintenance reports
- Track and manage IT assets and inventory
Coordination & Compliance
- Work with ICT Services and department staff
- Follow IT policies, security rules, and licensing requirements
- Assist with planning upgrades and procurement
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NCV Level 4
- IT-related qualification (NQF Level 5)
- At least 2 years’ experience in IT technical support
- Preferably in a lab or academic environment
Recommended (Advantageous)
- Knowledge of ECLA system
- Experience in educational or university environments
