    Tender Description

    The National Health Laboratory Service is inviting suitably qualified suppliers to supply and deliver a Type 1 water purification unit for the Chemical Pathology Department at Universitas Bloemfontein.

    The procurement includes the installation, servicing, maintenance and supply of consumables for a period of five years, ensuring a reliable source of high-purity water for clinical laboratory applications.

    Scope of Work

    The successful bidder will be required to:

    • Supply and deliver one complete Type 1 water purification system.
    • Install and commission the water purification unit.
    • Provide comprehensive servicing and preventive maintenance for five years.
    • Supply all required consumables throughout the five-year contract period.
    • Provide labour, materials, accessories, software and supervision required for the system.
    • Ensure continuous and reliable operation of the system.
    • Comply with the purchaser’s delivery schedule and applicable public-sector contractual requirements.
    • Maintain pricing in accordance with the RFQ requirements for the contract period.

    Technical Requirements

    The proposed system must be suitable for clinical pathology applications and meet the specified water purity standards, including:

    • Dual prefilters connected to municipal tap water.
    • Reverse osmosis and deionisation to produce Type 3 water.
    • Double-wavelength UV sterilisation at 185/254 nm.
    • Recirculation loop to maintain water purity.
    • Real-time monitoring of:
      • Resistivity
      • Temperature
      • Total Organic Carbon (TOC)
    • Resistivity of 18.2 MΩ·cm at 25°C.
    • Conductivity of 0.055 μS/cm at 25°C.
    • TOC of ≤5 ppb.
    • Particle filtration of ≥0.22 μm.
    • Controlled bacterial counts.
    • Storage tank capacity of 30–60 litres.
    • ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 certification.

    Required Documentation
