    Job Description

    Mediclinic Bloemfontein is seeking a Professional Nurse to provide safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care within a surgical environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multi-professional team, coordinate nursing activities and contribute to optimal patient care and safety.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team.
    • Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
    • Create a positive and supportive environment for patients and clients.
    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of nursing interventions.
    • Contribute to a learning environment that develops staff competence.
    • Accurately record all stock and equipment utilised.
    • Develop and modify nursing care plans according to patient needs.
    • Apply appropriate nursing processes, procedures and scientific nursing principles.
    • Conduct patient assessments and support effective patient care.

    Requirements

    Education

    • Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse; or
    • 4-year Nursing Diploma; or
    • Bachelor of Nursing.

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery.
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing, such as Critical Care, Emergency Care or Peri-operative Nursing, particularly for placement in a specialist unit.

    Experience

    • No previous experience is required.

    Skills & Knowledge

    • Basic Life Support training.
    • ACLS, ATLS or PALS training where applicable to specialised wards.
    • Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
    • Nursing care planning.
    • Infection prevention and control.
    • Nursing processes and procedures.
    • Nursing record keeping.
    • Patient assessment.
    • Pharmacology.
    • Relevant nursing legislation.
    • Risk identification and management.
