Job Responsibilities
As a Social Media Specialist at UFS, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and posting content on UFS social media platforms, including Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Pinterest, Giphy, TikTok, and Instagram.
- Conceptualizing and executing engaging social media campaigns to promote the university’s activities and programs.
- Monitoring social media channels, responding to inquiries, and identifying potential student-related concerns.
- Creating multimedia content, including basic photography and videography, to enhance engagement.
Using social media management tools (such as Brandwatch, Sprout Social, and Hootsuite) to track engagement and campaign performance. - Collaborating with the Communication and Marketing team to align social media strategies with the university’s vision and objectives.
Job Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Inherent Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree, advanced diploma, BTech degree, or postgraduate certificate (NQF Level 7) in Journalism, Media, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least one (1) year of relevant work experience in a role related to social media management, content creation, or digital marketing.
Recommended Skills and Competencies:
- Experience in social media content creation and engagement strategies.
- Strong writing skills for social media posts and campaigns.
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Internet research.
- Basic photography and videography skills.
- Experience managing social media pages and running campaigns.
- Familiarity with social media management tools such as Brandwatch, Sprout Social, and Hootsuite.
- Knowledge of multi-media journalism and digital storytelling techniques.
