Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning

Teach and coordinate postgraduate Public Health modules (lectures, seminars, workshops, assessments).

Lead modules and contribute to curriculum design and programme development.

Supervise postgraduate research projects.
-
Maintain a scholarly teaching profile aligned with a senior academic post.
Research
-
Conduct and publish high-quality research.
-
Present at national and international academic forums.
-
Seek research funding and collaboration opportunities.
-
Maintain expertise in a relevant Public Health specialisation.
Engaged Scholarship
-
Apply scholarly expertise for public benefit, including community outreach, policy advising, and consultancy in the health sector.

Serve on advisory bodies, support NGOs/government, and collaborate on multi-institutional projects.
Leadership and Administration
-
Provide leadership and contribute to decision-making at department, faculty, and university levels.

Serve on relevant academic committees.
Minimum Requirements (Inherent Requirements):
-
PhD in Public Health or equivalent (NQF Level 10).
-
At least 3 years’ experience teaching Public Health at tertiary level.
-
At least 3 years’ experience in curriculum development and coordination.
-
Proven experience in supervising graduated master’s students.
-
Research record with publications in accredited national/international journals.
-
Conference presentation experience at national scholarly events.

Demonstrated potential to obtain an NRF rating.
Recommendations (Preferred):

NRF rating.

Experience supervising doctoral students.

National recognition in a specialist area of Public Health research.

Active membership in national/international scholarly societies or committees.
