Senior Assistant Officer (Post Level 12) UFS
The Senior Assistant Officer will provide comprehensive administrative, event coordination, marketing, and operational support to the Director and division coordinators of the Free State Centre for Human Rights. This role is ideal for an organised and proactive individual with strong administrative, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Director and division coordinators.
- Serve as the Centre’s receptionist, managing telephone and visitor enquiries.
- Coordinate seminars, workshops, conferences, and departmental events.
- Manage event logistics, including venues, catering, travel arrangements, and materials.
- Support post-event reporting and evaluation.
- Assist with marketing and communication initiatives, including promotional materials.
- Maintain and update the Centre’s website and social media platforms.
- Oversee daily office operations and procurement processes.
- Monitor office supplies, equipment, and maintenance requirements.
- Support human resource administration, including staff records, leave administration, and onboarding.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support for projects and other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate (NQF Level 4).
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in an administrative or coordination role.
- Proven experience in event planning and coordination.
Recommended Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in a higher education environment.
- Marketing, communications, or social media management experience.
- Knowledge of University of the Free State administrative systems.
- Project management experience or training.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
