Job Description
Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this internship is to equip BPharm graduates with comprehensive pharmaceutical knowledge and practical experience across all core areas of pharmacy. The Pharmacist Intern will operate under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and will assist in delivering pharmaceutical care, ensuring optimal patient support, regulatory compliance, and professional service within a retail pharmacy environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Matric / Grade 12
Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) – 4-year degree
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Intern or valid work permit
Computer literate (MS Office)
Willing to work retail hours
Advantageous:
Previous holiday work experience in pharmacy
Experience with Unisolve and E-Scripting
Key Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the intern will:
Dispense Schedule 1 to Schedule 6 medications
Assist in compounding, repackaging, and stock control
Ensure accurate script interpretation, labeling, and verification
Educate patients on medication use
Handle chronic and special medication authorizations
Maintain stock levels and perform regular inventory checks
Provide customer service at the dispensary, OTC, and front shop
Stay updated with medical aid rules and process claim submissions
Required Competencies:
