Job Overview:
The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at the Central University of Technology (CUT) is seeking part-time lecturers for the 2026 academic year to teach in the fields of Somatology and Business Management 1 and 2. Appointments are made on an hourly basis, depending on teaching needs per semester or year.
This role involves developing academic content, lecturing, assessing students, and contributing to research and community service activities within the faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching, learning, and assessment in allocated subject(s)
Student evaluation and feedback
Research involvement
Academic administration
Control, planning, and organisation of teaching activities
Participation in community engagement projects
Subject Fields:
Somatology
Business Management 1 & 2
Required Competencies:
Ability to facilitate learning in both contact and hybrid/remote formats
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Familiarity with electronic learning platforms (e.g., Blackboard)
Qualifications & Experience:
A B Tech / Honours, Master’s, or Doctorate in a relevant field (depending on the level of the subject taught)
Previous lecturing experience is advantageous
Experience with e-learning tools, especially Blackboard, is recommended
Must own a laptop and be available for scheduled class hours, which may include evening sessions
Remuneration:
Hourly rate is based on qualification level (2025 rates):
Junior Lecturer: R278/hour
Lecturer: R341/hour
Senior Lecturer: R417/hour
Associate Professor / Professor: R571/hour
