    Job Overview

    The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is seeking an experienced Professor: Marketing Management to join the Department of Business Management at its Welkom Campus.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for developing academic material, delivering lectures, supervising postgraduate students, conducting research and contributing to community engagement initiatives. The role has a strong research focus, with research activities accounting for approximately 35–45% of the position.

    Main Responsibilities

    The Professor: Marketing Management will contribute across the following key areas:

    • Teaching, learning and assessment: 20–30%
    • Research: 35–45%
    • Administration and leadership: 10–15%
    • Community service and engagement: 5–10%

    The successful candidate may be involved in:

    • Student supervision at Master’s and PhD level
    • Research Methodology
    • Brand Management and Strategy
    • Digital Marketing Strategy and Tactics

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must have:

    • A relevant SAQA-approved doctorate-level qualification, such as a D Tech, PhD, D.Ed., NQF Level 10 qualification or equivalent, in the relevant subject field.
    • At least eight years’ teaching or lecturing experience in the relevant subject field.
    • Evidence of advancing knowledge through research outputs, postgraduate supervision and presentations at national and international conferences.
    • Evidence meeting CUT’s promotion requirements, including the required research credit units, postgraduate supervision, conference presentations and research leadership.
    • Experience leading or managing an externally funded research project.
    • Experience as an editor, reviewer or external examiner.

    Research & Academic Requirements

    The position requires a strong academic and research profile, including evidence of:

    • Peer-reviewed publications in the relevant field.
    • Research impact demonstrated through an h-index or i10-index.
    • Active participation in the relevant research community.
    • Acquisition of research grants from local and international sources.
    • Ability to lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Engagement with professional communities and wider society.

    A teaching qualification in higher education and an NRF rating will be advantageous.
