Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified and experienced Pharmacist to join the team at its Fleurdal store in Bloemfontein. The role also involves supervision, dispensing, patient education, and contributing to public health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality pharmaceutical care by:
Evaluating patient medicine-related needs and ensuring safe, effective therapy
Dispensing medicines accurately on valid prescriptions
Signing off on all prescriptions prepared by interns or assistants
Advising patients on correct medication use and drug interactions
Monitoring patient adherence and conducting follow-ups
Compounding, preparing, or supervising scheduled substances
Participating in the purchasing, storing, and distribution of medicine
Assisting with medicine registration processes as required
Maintaining system accuracy through proper capturing and verification of patient and prescription details
Staying informed on medical aid procedures and managing claims efficiently
Managing patient relationships and expectations through sound communication
Supporting the Dispensary Manager in administrative and stock control tasks
Complying with health, safety, and legal standards as per SAPC regulations
Promoting public health and engaging in pharmaceutical research and development where applicable
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric
BPharm degree or equivalent
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
2–3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical field (including student/intern retail experience)
Computer literacy (MS Office essential)
Advantageous:
Experience in retail/FMCG environments
Knowledge of SAP and Unisolv
E-scripting experience
Registered tutor status
Fluency in a third language
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent communication skills in English and a second language
Deep knowledge of basic dosing and drug interactions
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Team leadership and supervisory capability
Customer service and conflict resolution skills
Effective time management and problem-solving ability
Trustworthy, responsible, and professional under pressure
Team player mindset with the ability to train staff
Special Conditions of Employment:
Registered with SAPC and willing to work retail hours
Physically able to stand for extended periods
Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transport
