Job Overview
Clicks Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Pharmacy Manager to oversee the efficient operation of the dispensary and clinic at its Sasolburg store.
The successful candidate will lead the pharmacy team, ensure high standards of pharmaceutical care and safe dispensing, manage operational and financial activities, and drive compliance with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) requirements and company standards.
The role also involves building a high-performing team, improving customer service and ensuring strong integration between the pharmacy, clinic and broader store operations.
Key Responsibilities
Pharmaceutical Care & Compliance
- Ensure high standards of pharmaceutical care and patient service.
- Ensure accurate and safe dispensing of medication.
- Provide professional advice and counselling to customers.
- Conduct generic substitution in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Operate within the legal scope of practice and SAPC regulations.
- Ensure ethical working practices and regulatory compliance.
Pharmacy Operations
- Manage all operational activities within the dispensary.
- Oversee responsible stock management and minimise shrinkage.
- Ensure effective housekeeping and administration.
- Maintain compliance with company merchandising and operational standards.
- Monitor pharmacy and clinic targets and take corrective action where necessary.
Financial Management
- Ensure the operational and financial viability of the dispensary.
- Manage expenses effectively.
- Monitor core dispensary and clinic targets.
- Apply sound financial management principles to support business performance.
People Management
- Recruit, select and develop competent and motivated employees.
- Provide leadership, coaching and ongoing development to pharmacy staff, learners and interns.
- Build the team’s capacity and capability to meet current and future business requirements.
- Schedule employees according to labour policies and the relevant staffing model.
- Ensure accurate weekly time-and-attendance records and employee documentation are submitted to HR.
Customer Service
- Drive customer service initiatives that create an exceptional customer experience.
- Promote customer loyalty and achieve ClubCard participation targets.
- Ensure customers receive appropriate healthcare support and advice.
- Support Clicks’ vision of being the customer’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.
Clinic & Store Integration
- Build strong integration between the pharmacy and clinic.
- Ensure the clinic and pharmacy work together to provide customers with a comprehensive healthcare offering.
- Promote cohesion and consistency between the store, pharmacy and clinic teams.
- Drive a high-performing culture that supports employee engagement, customer satisfaction and business value.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Registration as a Responsible Pharmacist with SAPC is essential.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience after completing community service.
- Minimum 1 year of people management experience.
- Retail pharmacy experience will be advantageous.
- Unisolve experience will be advantageous.
