Job Overview
ER24 Eastern Free State is looking for a qualified Operational Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) to respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care in accordance with the applicable scope of practice and professional guidelines.
The successful candidate will assist in delivering quality emergency medical services while maintaining operational readiness and a professional public image for ER24.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure operational readiness for emergency medical calls.
- Attend to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care.
- Administer patient care within the applicable scope of practice.
- Apply best-practice principles when providing patient care.
- Complete and maintain accurate Patient Report Forms.
- Maintain a positive public image of ER24.
- Report near misses, slips and adverse events.
- Maintain knowledge of healthcare facilities, travel routes and the local demographic area.
- Comply with HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) Certificate – essential.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience – essential.
- 1 year of Ambulance Emergency Assistant experience – advantageous.
Skills and Knowledge
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge and application of best practices.
- Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Knowledge of Patient Report Forms.
- Familiarity with local healthcare facilities and emergency travel routes.
- Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
