Job Overview
The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Internal Auditor (P8) to support the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) in executing the Annual Internal Audit Operational Plan and related strategic plans.
The role focuses on facilitating audit engagements, strengthening governance and risk management processes, supporting combined assurance initiatives, and contributing to quality assurance and stakeholder engagement within the Internal Audit Unit.
Main Purpose of the Role
To assist the Chief Audit Executive in managing and executing the Internal Audit function in accordance with CUT’s approved Internal Audit Policies and Procedures, ensuring compliance, governance effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Execution & Oversight
-
Facilitate and oversee internal audit engagements.

Support the execution of the Annual Internal Audit Operational Plan.

Ensure audits are conducted in line with professional standards and CUT policies.
Follow-Up & Assurance
-
Facilitate follow-up processes on audit findings and recommendations.

Support the coordination of assurance providers.

Contribute to Combined Assurance initiatives to strengthen governance oversight.
Leadership & Supervision
-
Provide supervision and guidance within the Internal Audit Unit.

Support the CAE in strategic leadership and management functions.
-
Contribute to quality assurance and improvement programs.
Stakeholder Management
-
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

Maintain professional relationships across departments.

Support communication between audit, management, and assurance providers.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
-
B.Tech in Internal Auditing or equivalent qualification.
-
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
-
Compulsory membership with the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIASA).
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Internal Auditing.
-
At least 3 years’ supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications & Experience
-
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
-
Certified Professional Internal Auditor (PIA).
-
Principal Certified Internal Auditor (PCIA).
-
4 or more years’ experience in a supervisory role.
