Job Description
The Senior Assistant Officer is responsible for managing optical scanning operations (exam/test processing), supporting academic staff development programmes, and providing administrative and logistical support for teaching and learning initiatives.
The role involves working closely with academic staff, handling sensitive student data, coordinating workshops, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies such as POPIA.
Key Responsibilities
Optical Scanning Administration
- Manage optical scanning processes for tests and exams
- Print, distribute, and manage optical cards
- Scan completed scripts using the Remark system
- Safeguard student results and assessment data (POPIA compliance)
- Maintain accurate records of scanning requests and outputs
- Respond to academic staff enquiries
Academic Staff Development Support
- Assist with planning and coordination of workshops and events
- Handle venue bookings, setup, and logistics
- Support training programmes and staff development initiatives
- Market events and manage attendance and registrations
- Support new academic staff onboarding programmes
Administrative & Project Support
- Provide administrative support to teaching and learning initiatives
- Assist with graduate attribute projects
- Handle financial admin related to workshops and events
- Collaborate with academic departments and support services
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- At least 1 year experience in:
- Learning Management Systems (LMS) or e-Assessment systems
- Training and/or research administration in higher education
- Teaching and learning support (tutoring, mentoring, facilitating, lecturing)
Recommended:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma / BTech / Postgraduate Certificate (NQF Level 7 or higher)
